Well since Friday is traditionally my cleaning day I thought it's a good day for a cleaning tip. And yes, cleaning is part of organizing.
When we moved to the south, one of the first things that I noticed was that folks leave their outdoor shoes on in their home. In Canada, mostly because there is always mud somewhere, we had indoor shoes or slippers. Shoes or boots are removed at the door and neatly organized on racks at every door in Canada, I found this practice really cuts down in how much I have to clean the floor. For the most part we maintain this practice in our home in Texas. Our shoes are not organized at the door, but we do have indoor and outdoor shoes.
So when I read this interesting statistic I thought I would pass it along to all my friends who hate housekeeping. Studies show that 87% of the dirt and dust that comes into your home comes from the bottom of your shoes. That is a hard-to- ignore statistic, but completely believable. So if you hate vacuuming, as I do, then consider buying some indoor shoes.
