Life Roles Wheel

This exercise is designed to help you clarify your life roles.  Just draw a circle and divide your life up into segments.  Each segment should represent a role that you play for someone else.   The size of each segment is determined by the amount of time you spend in that role each day.

This is a graphic representation of how each role you play takes some of your time and energy.  Some roles you play are necessary and rewarding; spouse, parent, friend, employee, entrepreneur etc.  However, other roles take time and energy that must come from somewhere and is usually taken from the segment of your life marked “you” and slowly but surely, “you” disappear, and your identity is taken up by the roles you play.

By taking time to examine all the roles you play, you can begin to eliminate those roles that keep you from the roles you want to have, and help you find time to achieve those things in life and work which you find it difficult to find time for.

Make a list of the roles you want to keep and the roles you wish to, over time, eliminate.
